Tatami Judo does SA proud

BRYANSTON – Tatami Judo Club represented Joburg at the South African Judo Championships in Stellenbosch.

The South African Judo Championships was held in Stellenbosch from 29 June – 04 July 2015.

The Tatami Judo Club under the guidance of Sensei Basil Smith represented the Joburg Judo District.

Out of the 19 judoka that qualified, Tatami Judo was proud to bring home 11 individual medals which include four gold, two silver and five bronze.

Sensei Smith was very proud of his judoka, emphasising that hard work and dedication do pay off!

Team members included judoka from Beaulieu Preparatory, Bryneven Primary, Bryanston Primary, Japari, Kyalami Preparatory, Fourways High, St Stithians and St Davids.

Tatami Judo was started by Sensei Basil Smith in 2007 and trains on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Bryanston Primary School.
