Security guard shot during robbery

BRYANSTON – Security guard shot while responding to a robbery in Bryanston.

ER24 said a security guard was responding to a robbery at a Bryanston business in Peter Place when he was shot by the alleged robbers.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said the guard heard an alarm from one of the shops on the evening of 24 August. He went to investigate and on his arrival he came under fire.

Meiring said ER24 and police responded to the scene, where on their arrival at about 9pm, they found the guard sitting next to his vehicle.

“On assessment, paramedics found that the man had apparently been shot once in the back, fortunately he had been wearing his bulletproof vest at the time… He sustained minor injuries after the shooting.”

Meiring concluded that the man was treated on scene and then transported to a hospital for further medical care.
