Linden policeman’s rape case postponed
KENSINGTON B – Linden Police sergeant accused of rape is still out on bail until 10 December.
Linden Police’s Sergeant Derick Phanyana, who is accused of raping a detainee, appeared in Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 16 October.
Sgt Phanyana is accused of allegedly raping a 25-year-old detainee at the Linden Police Station’s holding cell, while on duty, on 28 June.
He had received bail of R10 000 on 9 July and was last seen on 19 August when the case was postponed until 16 October.
Sgt Phanyana will remain out on bail.
The State asked for a postponement of the case, pending DNA results, and will resume on 10 December at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.
