Coloured hair for charity

ROBIN HILLS – Grade 10 pupils learn the fundamentals about charity and have fun while they spray fellow pupils' hair.

The King’s School in Robin Hills did their part for cancer and hosted a Sprayathon at the school on 26 February. Excited pupils raced to the circle of chairs to have a chance to have their hair sprayed in a variety of colours of their choice.

Sarah Porter, teacher at the school and the Grade 10 leader, explained that the Grade 10 pupils of the school have to do 10 hours of community service and they chose to do this project as cancer is such a big issue. The Grade 10 pupils were exclusively responsible for all the spraying of fellow pupils and teachers who made a donation to have their hair sprayed.

“I’ts good for the children to raise money for such a worthy cause. They learn to cooperate with each other and think about others,” explained Porter. She further said that this is such a worthy cause, because everybody knows someone that’s been affected by cancer.

Heather Potgieter from the school said that the Grade 10 pupils shaved the hair off willing community members at the Northgate Shopping Centre on 27 February for the Cansa Shavethon project.
