A determined force

COSMO CITY – Itumeleng Dithupe shares his journey on becoming a published author.

It has been quite a journey for Itumeleng Dithupe, the determined scriptwriter shares his story, from a small town boy in Zeerust, to a published author in Johannesburg.

Dithupe shared how he always had dreams of becoming a radio producer. “When I got to Joburg in 2008 I had a dream to either be a content producer, radio producer or a writer,” said Dithupe. He said that during the time he had little funds to study towards his passions, he worked on construction. After about six months of it he recalled how he took a day off and spent it going to various institutions. “I walked to institutions that catered to the subjects I wanted to study until I found Boston Media House,” said Dithupe. He dedicated three years to his studies and worked hard enough to receive a bursary that would cover the costs.

“I was very appreciative of the bursary, and it came with many sacrifices that were all worth it, I managed to get my full media diploma,” said Dithupe. He said that after attaining his qualification he wanted to dive right into the field he had longed to be part of for years. The Cosmo City resident noted how he started working with industry professionals who wrote scripts for local soapies. To better hone in on his talents he decided to complete a certificate with the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF).

Through all of his achievements, his biggest self-fulfilled prophecy was writing and publishing his book entitled Be the boss of your future. The book is geared around motivating people to be the best possible version of themselves. “I want people to read the book and feel inspired to achieve their biggest goals and to never let self-doubt take a hold of their lives,” said Dithupe.

He was assisted by both Kwarts Publishers and Groep 7 Drukkers to get his book published.

Dithupe plans to keep writing and publishing books that he hopes will speak to everyone. “We all have battles and face hardships that we feel we will never overcome, but we must believe in ourselves and our strengths,” concluded Dithupe.

The book can be purchased on the Groep 7 Drukkers website.
