Oasis Home For Boys in Robin Hills receives a makeover

ROBIN HILLS – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints host their service project to help those in need.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints congregants spent a day at the Oasis Home For Boys where they held their helping hands project.

The project aims to revamp the home. One of the members, Rosanne Scarth said, “This was a way to make the house more comfortable for the boys aged between three and 16 years old.”

She said there were different tasks done by the church’s various groups – some members kept the boys busy, others painted walls around the house, others sewed curtains and another group did handy work around the home.

“It feels good to be part of such a project. To be part of such a project is a calling.”

Scarth said that all the supplies the home received were donated. “The aim of the day is to give of your time and effort.”

Fellow member, Leon Holmes, said the project was a way to get their members to serve the community. “We get together and we do some service like this one, we had a good turnout and our members were all eager to help,” said Holmes.

He said their aim was to spend time on the house until all the tasks were complete. “This was a way to make other people’s lives better for them,” said Holmes.

“To give in service should not be left to one special day, but must be continuous.”
