Pieter Smith to rock Unika for Voortrekkers
RANDBURG – A concert to help less fortunate children.
The Voortrekkers is a youth programme that teaches children about leadership and the rich Afrikaner history and values.
The Scouts-like programme is not only for Afrikaans children but for children who want to also learn basic survival skills and make lifelong friends. The organisation’s roots are deep in Christianity and this helps the children become more involved in the community.
Earlier this year, they hosted a Cansa Shavathon at Laerskool Unika to raise funds for the cancer organisation.
The Voortrekkers will now be fundraising to allow more children, who may not be able to afford to join the programme, a chance to be part of it. They will do so by hosting a concert headlined by Afrikaans musician Pieter Smith at Laerskool Unika’s hall. The concert will take place on 20 July at 6pm. Tickets will cost R100 and can be purchased on www.quicket.co.za.
