Baby found in a black plastic bag in August fine and well

LINDEN – Abandoned and thrown away baby doing well.

In August a domestic worker faced charges of concealment of birth after she tried to throw her newborn baby boy away.

Linden police attended to the scene and found the baby with his umbilical cord around his neck and rushed him and the mother to hospital.

After weeks of care, Linden police can announce that the baby is fine and healthy.

Spokesperson for the station Constable Takalani Matumba said, “We went to go visit the baby in hospital and they told us he is at 100 per cent. The baby even has a name now which is Sibusiso, which is the Zulu name meaning ‘blessing’.”

Matumba recently visited baby Sibusiso at the Ethembeni Children’s Home in Doornfontein.

She wanted to thank all members of the community that assisted them when they discovered the baby.

She said, “When we found the baby we pleaded with residents to donate nappies, baby food and clothing and they did so in their numbers. We are very thankful to these people for helping us, Sibusiso and his family.”
