Victim stoned in Ferndale

FERNDALE – Suspects have been arrested after allegedly stoning their victim.

A violent altercation that resulted in the stoning of a victim, lead to the arrest of two suspects on 26 October.

The Randburg Police Station arrested the two suspects, aged between 26 and 35 years old, after being called to the scene of a fight.

Randburg police spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said, “Around midnight, police were called to the scene through the sector cell phone to investigate a report of fighting at corner Oxford and West streets, Ferndale.”

The officers rushed to the scene, and on their arrival, they noticed two men standing next to the body of a man lying down on the ground. “On preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the man was bleeding from his upper body. It was alleged that the victim was hit and stoned by the suspects,” Maja said.

An ambulance was immediately dispatched to the scene to assist. “Unfortunately the man was certified dead on the scene. The motive for the killing is unknown as yet, but the police managed to arrest two suspects in regard to the offence committed,” Maja added.

The investigation will continue, and the suspects are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates Court to face charges of murder.
