Unconfirmed reports of stabbing on Malibongwe Drive

RANDBURG – Community members offered support and messages of anger and encouragement on the post, as the driver's condition remained unclear.

A Facebook post which states that a man was stabbed on Malibongwe Drive in an attempted hijacking, is gaining traction this morning.

The post, which was first shared on the I Love Randburg Facebook page, has now been shared into many of the local community groups. It states that an attempted hijacking occurred at the intersection of Malibongwe Drive and Hans Schoeman Street. It further states that the driver’s door was opened and the driver was stabbed repeatedly.

The incident reportedly took place at about 7.30am on 18 May.

Community members offered support and messages of anger and encouragement on the post, as the driver’s condition remained unclear.

Randburg police have however been unable to confirm the incident. When contacted, Randburg Police Station’s spokesman, Captain Makgowanyana Maja, told Randburg Sun that no reports matching this have been received by the police.

“For now, we have received no report on this incident, but I will update if any information comes to me,” said Makgowanyana.
