Young poet destined for greatness
RANDPARK RIDGE – A Curro Aurora youngster has already had his poetry published in newspapers in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Robert Frost once said poetry is when an emotion has found its thought, and the thought has found its words.
This feeling has been captured by ten year old Muhammad Zia Shaik.
The Curro Aurora Primary School Grade 5 youngster has already had his poetry published in newspapers in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Shaik said, “Every day, you see emotions in people everywhere, and some of them are sadly negative. I decided to write a poem to make people feel happy and positive and to help inspire change in the environment around us.”
Shaik draws inspiration from those close to him.
He said, “The people who inspire me the most in life are my mom and dad. They inspire and motivate me every day to keep following my passion.”
Shaik would like to pursue his poetry while following his hopes and dreams.
“I love my poetry, but my real dream is to become a scientist,” he added.
Proud mom Furzana Sadiq said, “Reading my son’s poetry and seeing it published makes me feel totally ecstatic and proud. Unleashing the Fire was the first poem that he wrote, and he has another four that he would love to share.”
Below is a poem written by Shaik for his mother, titled Mom:
I am the sail, she is my tide,
She is always there when I need her,
She never leaves my side.
Our bond is strong, our relationship is big,
It will never break easily like a twig.
Our love is endless and true,
I love her and she loves me too.
She is my world and my life,
Nothing can separate us, not even a sharp knife.
She loves me through thick and thin,
Without her, I am like a shark without a fin.
Thank you Mom for everything you have done,
For I am your precious, brave son.
