Windsor spiritualist centre stands their ground

WINDSOR WEST – The spiritualist centre that has been located at 8 Viscount Street, Windsor West for over the last 30 years is situated in a technically prime spot just off Beyers Naude Drive.

The Spiritualist Federation of South Africa is calling on the wider Randburg community to support them as they stand their ground in troublesome Windsor West.

According to the church’s Cynthia Gaddin, their premises that has been located at 8 Viscount Street, Windsor West for more than 30 years, was easily accessible off Beyers Naude Drive.

Gaddin said, “We want people to know that after all this time we are still in our same spot, and to be reassured that it is still safe to drive in our area to our building, thanks to our efforts.

“We love and care for the community that we operate in. Since we opened over 30 years ago, there is no doubt that the surrounding area has deteriorated. Before 1994, our area used to be quite an affluent suburb, but slowly and surely, most people moved away.”

Gaddin commented on incidents that she had witnessed in the area, and how she hoped the area could improve.

She said, “Just up the road, we have witnessed incidents of drug dealing and prostitution, and our heart feels sorry for our community. We have the right as a church and as residents to demand that something is done to increase the health, safety and security of our suburb.”

According to Gaddin, the organisation has informed the Metro police and police of several incidents over the years, but the problems in the area continue.

“We want to work with people and help them to find themselves. Too many people are going through the stresses of life and as qualified trauma counsellors, the community needs to know that there is somewhere close by that can help.

“We are physical human beings living in a material physical world, and we can walk in the same steps as the spirits that surround us, but we need help and advice to understand how to handle things. This is the goal that we would like to achieve.”

Explaining a bit more about what the federation believed in, Gaddin said, “We see God as the controller and the universe as the energy that surrounds us. We find readings of interest and thought-provoking individuals to come and discuss issues surrounding everyday spirituality with us.”

The Spiritualist Federation of South Africa holds non-denominational church services every Sunday evening at 7pm, and is available for phone calls on 072 112 2363 to discuss their other services on offer.
