Honeydew police are appealing for information from the public as the search for eight suspects involved in the robbery of a Pep store inside Randridge Mall on 18 September continues.
Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan elaborated on further details that have emerged after Randburg Sun’s initial report on 18 September.

He said the suspects pretended to be customers as they took different positions inside the shop.

“The suspects approached customers and staff members and threatened them with firearms. They demanded cash and cell phones from the safe and robbed customers of their jewellery. Before they could remove cell phones from the safe, they were disturbed by something and started to panic. They ran out of the shop one after the other,” said Muthan.

It was then that the suspects ran into a security guard who had heard screaming from the shop.
“The suspects opened fire on the guard, hitting him in the lower abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.”

The suspects fled the scene in two vehicles, a white Hyundai Accent and metallic blue Toyota Quest.
Both cars had false registration numbers.

The police are appealing for information on any of the suspects seen here in photos sent to Randburg Sun. Investigations into the case of murder and armed robbery continue.
