On 15 October Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge celebrated their learners in their valediction. Although the lens was focused on the matric learners, the school began the ceremony with awards for learners from various grades before they proceeded to their awards reserved for the Class of 2019.
Senior deputy principal Clare Pretorius opened the ceremony before learners and the rest of the high school staff made their entrance. The school choir led attendees in the school hymn after the matric learners and staff members had settled in the venue.
College principal Farone Eckstein delivered a speech which was a blend of inside jokes and well wishes for the matrics. Eckstein’s speech included personalised shout-outs to some of the matrics, which he described as a ‘nice’ group, destined for greatness. The headmaster structured his speech where he tracked the school career of the matrics, which was well considered and encouraged them to be the ‘smiling face emoji’ of their generation as they are capable and have done well in this regard up until this point.
The principal’s speech was followed by various awards which showcased the different areas the 106 learners in the class excelled in. Bronze, silver and gold academic merit certificates were distributed to learners an included the varied plans of recipients. All but one of the recipients of the merit accolades planned to enter the world of tertiary studies next year. The one outlier planned to take a year off where she would gain experience with animals which was intended to inform her studies of veterinary science in the years to come.
