Car crashes into a ditch, catches fire, leaving woman critically injured in Weltevreden Park

WELTEVREDEN PARK – The woman sustained numerous injuries and was in critical condition.


ER24 paramedics responded to a call of an accident on the Beyers Naudé Drive bridge over the N1 highway in Weltevreden Park which left a woman critically injured on the evening of 25 February.

Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24 paramedics said they found the car well alight on the side of the road, “The woman was found lying a short distance away after she was pulled from the vehicle by a member of the public.”

Meiring added that the fire brigade was on the scene to attend to the burning vehicle, extinguishing the fire.

Medics treated the woman for numerous injuries and she was transported to Helen Joseph Hospital for further care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
