Windsor Community Support Services seeks to make Windsor better

Members of Windsor Community Support Services have had a stellar month of helping to improve their community environment.
The organisation’s Mathabo Bekimbia-Tchoffo would like to thank several role-players who have played their part in the initiative.
Recently, Pikitup Randburg Depot has helped the community by supplying them with refuse bags weekly. “We also make a point to distribute refuse bags to street vendors who contribute towards the litter. Our team has also done an outstanding job cleaning both parks in Windsor East and Windsor West. The parks were neglected due to the lockdown restrictions,” said Bekimbia-Tchoffo.
After several water leaks in the area, the team would like to thank Joburg Water for their work.
“Thanks to Joburg Water for responding promptly. They attended to the three overflowing sewer drains, two in Windsor East and one in Windsor West,” she said.
She commended fellow Windsor residents and the sense of community spirit that they have shown in their contributions.
“As a resident and homeowner in the area, I believe if we work together as a united community we can restore Windsor to its previous glorious and leafy suburb. Already positive developments are happening in Windsor West with the revival of abandoned, vandalised properties which are turned into decent apartments.
“This will bring a new demographic, for example, young professionals who can afford to pay rent and eliminate subletting and overcrowding.”
The organisation has 382 members currently and hope to sign up more.”We are extremely pleased that more people are signing up in Windsor West. We aim to extend our members in the Windsor West area so that we can get a dedicated team for each side.
“Member engagement will resume in July and we invite our members to share ideas and contribute towards community upliftment. You are all invited to join us at the monthly management meeting. Please contact us for more details.”
