Young hero rewarded by SPCA for his bravery
On 14 August, Letlogonolo was walking in his Cosmo City neighbourhood when he saw a group of fellow youngsters abusing a litter of kittens.

To recognise the brave act of saving six helpless kittens from a group of abusers on the streets of Cosmo City, the Randburg SPCA organised a handover of goods to Letlogonolo Davhana, generously donated by the Randburg community on 28 August.
The SPCA’s Lyndall Ngwenya said that the donation was the least they could do to make the youngster feel special for his bravery.
“We asked his family for a list of goods that Letlogonolo needs, and we appealed to our community to help. They generously donated school items such as shirts, pants, shoes, books, stationery, and bags,” said Ngwenya.
On 14 August, Letlogonolo was walking in his Cosmo City neighbourhood when he saw a group of fellow youngsters abusing a litter of kittens.
He managed to convince them to leave the kittens alone before taking them home to nurse back to health, before taking them to the SPCA.
Letlogonolo said that it feels amazing to be appreciated so much by the Randburg community for his brave act.
“I feel so special, and I know that all of this will help me at school,” he said.
Ngwenya added that what was remarkable was the donation of an Android tablet, which at this current time, is imperative to the youngster’s schooling.
Robyn Read, who donated the pad, was one of the many community members that came forward with a donation.
“His story really moved me, and I am so happy that I can help. The way he stood up for little animals and defenceless creatures, and I can see him being a future leader one day. How we treat animals is really a reflection on ourselves,” said Read.
“As a family, we are so proud of him. I don’t know anyone his age that is capable or even willing to save cats and care for them. The school stuff donated to him will help him. He is still in Grade 6, so we truly value this support,” said aunt Tholakeke Davhana.
Letlogonolo is currently a learner of Tirisano Mmogo School in Cosmo City.
“I think it is very important to reward an action like this as he did not do it for any pride or glory, but he did it because it was the right thing to do, and that is truly inspirational,” concluded Ngwenya.
