New leaders for Rand Park High’s 2021 school year
The announcement of the leaders is awaited with much anticipation each year and this year was no different, despite the challenges posed by Covid-19.
The 2021 leaders of Rand Park High School have been appointed and have assumed their duties and new roles at their school.
The announcement of the leaders is awaited with much anticipation each year and this year was no different, despite the challenges posed by Covid-19.
“Ordinarily, the new appointees are announced in front of the entire school, however, because of restrictions on full school assemblies being held due to Covid-19, the Grade 11 learners witnessed the appointment of their peers at a socially distanced leader announcement event which took place on the school field and was hosted by principal Alan Wilke and deputy principal Gaye Schütte,” said the school’s Heather Robinson.
This was followed by the traditional tie ceremony where the leaders received their leader ties which they wear as part of their school uniform to symbolise their leadership position within the school.
“We are very proud of our new leaders and wish them well as they help, encourage and lead their fellow learners with fairness, kindliness and courage,” said Wilke.
Tumelo Mahuma was appointed head boy and Justina Ilunga was appointed head girl. The deputy head leaders are Patrick Hoban, Connor Beukes, Olivia Davies and Monique Nieuwenhuizen.
