Two armed suspects nabbed after Cosmo robbery

COSMO CITY – Police arrested two armed suspects after a business robbery in Cosmo City on 8 November.

Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said the alleged robbery occurred in the late evening at a fast-food spaza shop in the area.

“The store owner was at work at his shop when two armed suspects allegedly entered demanding money and electronic items. They threatened the owner and other shoppers with firearms, and a shot was fired,” said Muthan.

An unknown bystander was shot and injured in his hand.

Patrolling police responded to the scene and cornered the suspects inside the store. “Both suspects were arrested and seven cell phones and an undisclosed amount of cash was recovered off their person,” added Muthan.

Two firearms were also recovered. The injured bystander was taken to hospital to receive treatment and is in stable condition.

The suspects will appear soon in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to face armed robbery charges.
