Beagle Watch shares festive season crime-safety tips. Nothing ruins the festive season fun, joy and lack of responsibilities like becoming a victim of crime during that time.
Police have called on the public to be vigilante and cautious over the next few weeks as criminals will try take advantage whenever the opportunity presents itself. In an attempt to educate and equip as many people as possible with helpful information to avoid regretting the festive season Beagle Watch Armed Response shared festive season safety tips with the public.
Beagle Watch managing director André Aiton expressed, “We would like to caution the public to be extra vigilant, cautious and aware of their surroundings when at home, but also when out and about over the festive season.”
Beagle Watch has also shared safety tips with the public to use whenever they are receiving deliveries to their homes. Social media has been filled with footage of courier and food delivery vehicles being targeted by criminals. Aiton explained, “Unfortunately, criminals have been quick to capitalise on this new trend. We regularly see cases of courier vehicles being targeted by criminals while making deliveries at residences.”
He advised the public to rather let the vehicle drive into their property first before taking delivery of the parcel. Additionally, all deliveries must be authenticated prior to their arrival either by text message, call, email or pin code before gaining access to your property, as many delivery companies have in place.

- When arriving at home, always be aware of your surroundings
- Look around you before you drive in
- Drive in and wait for the gate to close, making sure that no one has followed you inside
- When visitors arrive let them drive into your property and close the gate. Avoid them getting off and unpacking on the road or pavement
- Have a plan of action in case of an emergency with all necessary contact details in an easily accessible place
- Ensure that your electric fence, cameras, alarm system and panic buttons are fully functional
- Have a code word that will alert your family to a possible dangerous situation
- Ensure that you have sufficient remote panic buttons in your house which can set off silent and audible panic activations.
