Golf for the entertainment industry

The events, tourism and entertainment industry received a punt when iMotiv8 hosted a golf day at Jackal Creek Golf Estate on 4 December.
The industry has suffered greatly since the coronavirus reached South Africa’s shores and government imposed stiff regulations in the sector since lockdown.

The purpose of the golf day was to allow members of the industry to network, as well as raise funds for those in need.
Much of the money raised was given to The Field Band Foundation which empowers young South Africans through music, dance and citizenship projects.
“The highlights of the day were of course that the sponsors could network together,” said Simone Burts of iMotiv8, the team building company that organised the event.

“Fantastic attractions were the two wonderful performances by the Field Band Foundation. Our emcee, Alfred Ntombela was a real hit and [we had] an amazing auction which allowed us to raise additional funds for a few of our beneficiaries.”
She said Lemon and Limelight Band stole the night with great performances, and everyone enjoyed the meal at the end of the day.

“The golf day exceeded our expectations and the we were able to raise over R20 000 in stationery for the members of The Field Band Foundation.”
Burts said many companies in the industry had to close their doors this year, and those left were not unaffected.
Unsurprisingly, iMotiv8 had to change its own approach to team building and has focused on virtual concepts to keep the ball rolling.
“Having said that, nothing can beat the ‘real thing’. Unfortunately, there is a long road to recovery and we believe that the industry will not see a recovery any time soon.”

She said the company hoped to host more corporate social initiatives next year, including a few golf days.
They also aim to seize any opportunity to promote the industry.
