Get to know this year’s Trinityhouse head boy

RANDPARK RIDGE – Trinityhouse College Randpark Ridge 2021 head boy shares a word.

Trinityhouse College Randpark Ridge head boy George Chavaranis shares his answers to some questions at the beginning of his year at the helm of high school leadership.

  • What are you looking forward to the most during your term as leader?

I look forward to all of the aspects that are to come in the year ahead, ranging from creating friendships with many new people and helping others to things such as major events like the matric dance. I also look forward to a brighter future in regard to the Covid-19 pandemic. I look forward to seeing how we adapt and overcome this hurdle that has been hindering us for a long time.

  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?

I would say my strengths lie in my ability to adapt to difficult situations especially when I am put under pressure. I perform my best when I am under pressure. I would also say that I think I am a friendly person and good at talking to others as well as being around others. I like helping others and I like to be included where possible. In addition, I try to make the most out of situations, enjoying them to the maximum. My weakness lies in my time management skills, I could avoid the majority of my struggles if my time management was better.

  • Is there anything you would like to change at your school?

There is always room for improvement, although there is nothing in particular that comes to mind. The biggest thing that I would like to see is for a more diverse, respectful as well as inclusive environment to be established where all people feel comfortable and respect one another.

  • What do you love the most about your school?

I would say the people and the bonds formed with those people at Trinity, whether it be a teacher or a fellow pupil. The bonds I have created truly have greatly impacted me as a person as they arise from the beautiful ethos that Trinity represents as a school.

  • Matric is your final year, from an academic point of view, what are you aiming for?

I am aiming for an average of above 85 per cent as well as seven distinctions, which I hope to achieve but will have to work hard to obtain.

  • What will you message of encouragement be for your prefects/co-leaders?

My message is simple – Enjoy every little bit of the journey. Time goes by so quickly and sometimes we do not live in the moment and take in what is around us, so therefore I would encourage others to make the most out of the year as well as to get involved where possible.

  • What are your plans after matric in 2022?

I would like to go to university, however, I am not sure what I would like to study… I do know that I will work extraordinarily hard so that one day I will be successful. I want to make sure that I make the most out of my life, doing everything I can do as well as being happy while doing it.

  • If you could be any superhero, who do you want to be and why?

Superman. He has a range of superhero abilities that I feel would make life really interesting, as well as looking like Henry Cavill would not be the worst thing in the world.
