Man hospitalised with serious burns

FAIRLANDS – The man was taken to hospital by ER24 paramedics.


A man was hospitalised on 14 March with serious burns following a fire on Smit Street in Fairlands.

ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene at 10.55pm and found the man outside the makeshift home, which was well alight. “Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained burns over most of his body, leaving him in a critical condition,” explained ER24 communications officer, Russel Meiring.

“The man was treated and provided advanced life support interventions before being transported to [hospital] for further care,” he said.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
