Region B residents called to participate in Integrated Development Plan sessions

JOBURG – The inputs from the public will assist to shape what ultimately ends into the final budget to be approved by Council before the conclusion of the current financial year.

City invites the residents of Region B to participate in shaping the municipalities short, medium, and long-term future.

The City of Johannesburg has been hosting its Integrated Development Planning (IDP) meetings across the City and the time has come for the residents of Albertville, Auckland Park, Brixton, Emmarentia, Northcliff, Linden, Victory Park and surrounding neighbourhoods to participate. On 21 April the region will host its 2021/22 Integrated Development Plan (IDP), Draft 2021/2022 Medium Term and Tariffs consultation meetings. At the meeting residents, city officials and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to engage in which best ways to take the City forward. A statement from the City read, “The IDP requires the involvement of the broader public to ensure a consented approach to development and service provision. The IDP process demonstrates the City’s ability and determination to go back to basics and reconnect with the citizenry.”

The City has reaffirmed its determination to continue to improve the daily lived experience of its residents but also acknowledged it can only do this if it gets adequate input and feedback on the draft budget and IDP. The inputs from the public will assist to shape what ultimately ends into the final budget to be approved by Council before the conclusion of the current financial year. The Region B meeting will be a hybrid meeting which would allow people to attend in person or online. For the physical meeting no more than 200 people will be allowed in the venue. All Covid-19 regulations will be complied with including social distancing, sanitisation and wearing of masks.

In addition to residents and stakeholders being consulted through various engagement methods which include community meetings will also feature virtual stakeholder engagement sessions and allow for email submissions.
