Licensing department runs out of stationery, asks community members to wait

RANDBURG CBD – The stationery was delivered earlier that day, not long after some community members left.

While some reports on social media claimed staff at the Randburg Licensing Centre sent residents away recently, the Metro police clarified this was not the case.

It was on the morning of July 15 that the centre ran out of stationery.

Staff asked those in the queue to wait longer, just an hour or so for new stationery to arrive, but some construed this as being shooed away.

“No community members were sent away, they were only asked to wait a bit while stationery was on its way for delivery at the Licensing Centre,” said Metro police spokesperson, Xolani Fihla.

“Because of the financial year-end, the SAP system was closed and this resulted in the delay of the delivery of the ordered stationery. The stationery was delivered earlier [that day], not long after some community members left. Operations are continuing as normal.”
