Honeydew CPF rescues puppies
HONEYDEW – It was not part of their normal duties, but the patrollers were happy to help the puppies.
Three little puppies will receive new loving homes thanks to patrollers from the Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF).
This after they were found being sold on the side of the road in Honeydew on July 17.
“While on patrol, we received a call that puppies were being sold near Eagle Canyon,” explained the CPF’s public relations officer, Michael Steyn
“Our patrollers went there and found someone selling three puppies on the side of the road. We then contacted Randburg SPCA who requested us to please take the puppies and bring them to them. This is usually not part of what the patrollers do, but we try and make a difference where we can, and hopefully these three adorable puppies will find a great home.”

Randburg SPCA general manager, Craig Rudman confirmed the puppies are still in their care and once they have finished their course of vaccinations and receive a clean bill of health, they will be up for adoption in about a month and a half.
“The puppies went to the private vet we have in North Riding as this is our standard practice to take strays and injured strays to the vet for health and condition checkups when they arrive at our society,” Rudman explained.
“There is no law solid enough that can stop people selling puppies or dogs on the side of the road or shopping malls. We as the SPCA can intervene regarding the welfare of the animals and we can confiscate the animals by way of the Animal Protection Act if and should the APA laws have been contravened.
“We give advice to people who cannot take care of their animals or who do not want their animals to surrender them to their nearest SPCA.”
