What you can do to help on voter registration weekend

BLAIRGOWRIE – The local government elections are here again, and Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck has asked for volunteers to help with voter registration.

Ward 117 councillor, Tim Truluck has encouraged residents to volunteer to help with the voter registration weekend.

“It’s that time again for the local government election. Luckily the third Covid-19 surge is over and many of us are now vaccinated, so I feel comfortable in asking for help again,” Truluck said, referring to the weekend September 18 and 19.

He said volunteers have two tasks:

  • Keeping an eye on the IEC and making sure things are not disruptive
  • Helping people who come to the voting station if they have queries.

“There are shifts on each day – 07:30-13:00 and 12:30-17:00. We will need to wear masks and practise social distancing. Each shift has a voting station captain who will let you know what to do.”

The voting stations are at Blairgowrie, Parkhurst, Rosebank and Saxonwold primary schools.

“I will also need some drivers and a helper each to drop off pamphlets at certain addresses,” Truluck added.

“If you are away that weekend, but can help on voting day November 1 (and/or the two special voting days on October 30 and 31) please let me know. If you can help on both weekends/voting day that would be great.”
