DA calls a win in Ward 98 based on preliminary results
WINDSOR – Ward 98 to go the way of the DA, preliminary results show. Ward councillor thanks residents for votes.
DA councillor, Beverley Jacobs has won Ward 98 at this year’s local government elections, according to the party’s calculations.
The Ward covers Windsor East and West, Cresta and surrounding areas.
This after the preliminary vote count for the ward was completed, and party agents said they found the majority win for the DA too great for a re-count to change the winner.
“Thank you to each every member and resident who have endorsed the DA and myself, and provided assistance on election day. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you,” she said.
“I do not foresee that the DA will attain the 50+1 required to govern JHB, but winning uMngeni (Kwa Zulu Natal), will certainly enable us to showcase what an accountable, service delivery machine looks like. I trust that we are all encouraged by the good news.*
The IEC has not verified the results of this ward. Preliminary results are based on the work of party agents at the vote count, and their political parties in determining acceptable margins at which to call a win initially.
