Ensuring learners have a full uniform

BLAIRGOWRIE – Helping school learners feel complete by being in fully and new school uniform.

School uniform and items are being collected for underprivileged children.

Blairgowrie resident Naledi Nzima is pleading with the public to help make the lives school learners a little easier and better. Nzima has been collecting school uniform and shoes to donate to leaners in Mpumalanga. It all started when a relative, who teaches at a Bushbuckridge village primary school, appealed to Nzima to help assist a few of the learners with school uniform and shoes.
Nzima explained, “It touched my heart that as an educator she was able to identify that these kids need school uniforms and shoes and how their current uniforms and shoes are affecting their confidence and progress. All kids have the need to look like their friends and that starts with the clothes they wear.”

She also learnt that two siblings in the class shared a uniform and how the staggered learning approach was an advantage as they would exchange uniforms when one went to school in the morning and the other in the afternoon. This is something she couldn’t turn a blind eye to and decided to help within her circles.

Nzima wasted no time and started engaging and encouraging friends, family and her neighbours to contribute to the initiative by donating. Since then she has been able to collect scores of shoes, socks, shirts and other items part of school uniform.
She has also been reaching out to businesses which recently proved fruitful. “A company called Sexy Socks has donated over 400 pairs of socks that will be donated to the whole school.”

She admitted that since she started the initiative she has found the willingness of others to help as one of the factors that have kept her pushing this mission. “I am determined to help children that can’t help themselves. Most of these kids are from disadvantaged backgrounds and their parents can’t afford to buy them school uniforms or school shoes and I want to fill in that gap.”

Nzima is grateful to all those that have supported the initiative to help the children of Bushbuckridge. “You have given the little kids something to smile about. Covid-19 has affected a lot of households more so in the rural areas, having to buy school shoes and uniforms is something the parents of the children you have helped don’t have to worry about.”

She added that donations are still welcome and those interested in helping can contact her via cellphone on 076 823 8055.
