Two hospitalised after hit and run

FERNDALE – One critically injured patient was airlifted to the nearest hospital for further treatment.

Two women believed to be in their 40s were hospitalised following a hit-and-run incident on Kent Avenue and Hill Street in Ferndale on January 24.

According to ER24’s communications officer Russell Meiring, paramedics arrived at 16:35 to find other services already in attendance. On closer inspection, medics found two women lying on the pavement. “Medics assessed the women and found that one was in a serious condition while the other was in a critical condition. Medics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions,” said Meiring.

“After treatment, the critically injured woman was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital while the other woman was transported by ambulance.”

The driver and the vehicle were not found on the scene. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
