June is Men’s Health Month and aims to raise awareness of preventable health issues and encourages early disease detection and treatment among men and boys.

The Randburg Sun asked people why they think Men’s Health Month is important and this is what they had to say…

MPHO RAKHOSI: It is important because obviously, it brings awareness to matters about men’s health. It kind of allows men to learn about the importance of taking their mental and physical health seriously.
MULISA NEDZINGAHE: It is important to me, because it is a month where we can talk more freely about issues that men go through, mentally or physically, and as a young man it is important that I reflect on both those things.
JORDAN VIVIERS: It is important to me as this month brings awareness to men to take care of their bodies by eating right, exercising, and working to prevent diseases. It also encourages early detection and treatment of diseases among men.
TSHIMANGAZO NTSHUMBENDZENI: It is important, because it is a month where we can demonstrate the importance of health to men. I think that a lot of men don’t really think about their health, so this month serves as a reminder that they must take care of themselves.
