Randburg Art Society hosts exhibition in Ferndale
Art exhibition at Ferndale on Republic brings all the birds, butterflies and beautiful portraits to the fore.
Members of Randburg Art Society brought colour and beauty to a local shopping centre when they had an exhibition there on August 27 and 28.
Ferndale on Republic saw lively canvases on display, as the artists showed off their paintings which were also for sale.

Flowers, birds, butterflies, wide-open scenery and the intricate features of a person’s face that portrayed their character in a portrait were the order of the day
and many community members stopped to appreciate the beauty of the artworks.
“It has been nice to get out and show our art again,” said the chairperson of the group, Teresa New.

Sue Prior, who had a host of portraits to show, said she had been doing art all her life.

“I grew up in India and when all we had were pencils, I did my art,” she said.
“When I came to South Africa about 30 years ago I did murals. Now I concentrate on oil paintings.”

Prior also runs the Four Seasons Art Studio in Linden where her work and the works of others can be found.
Hala Ahmed, who emigrated from Egypt, said painting portraits and landscapes brought her much joy and she was proud to share her work.
The group will be at the shopping centre again on the last weekends of September and October and will take part in World River Clean-up Day at Delta Café on September 17.
