The lost man’s family has been located

Linden police thank the community, especially social media, for helping to reunite Basil Cook with his family.

Colonel Pranay Bedesie of Linden police have confirmed that they have found the son of the elderly man through Facebook and LinkedIn.

“The gentleman confirmed that it was his son when he saw his picture. Through LinkedIn, we found that the son worked in Sandton and contacted the company until we got ahold of him. We informed his son that they had his father at Linden Police Station as he was lost and he came to pick up his father.”

Linden Police Station sergeant Takalani Sibiya thanked everyone for their assistance in getting Basil Cook to his family.

Linden Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Takalani Sibiya pleads with residents to help identify an elderly man who is currently at the station and doesn’t know how to get home.

“The old man says he is from Cape Town and arrived in Johannesburg three days ago. He stays with his daughter Bronwen Cook but does not know the address. His name is Basil Cook.”
