Girl Guides SA members gathered to discuss financial situation
Girl Guides South Africa is part of a worldwide movement, representing 10 million girls and young women in 152 countries across five regions
Girl Guides South Africa recently held their annual national council and annual general meeting at their national centre in Northriding.
The council is held annually for stakeholders to plan activities and policies going forward. This was the first almost full attendance since 2020.
Following the national council, the annual meeting was held, to discuss the financial situation and also to award members who have done exceptional work over the previous 12 months.
Hilary White of Girls Guides said that this council consisted of guiding members from across the country. Usually the regional commissioner from each region, with a total of 25 regions represented.

“2023 was the first council that was able to be held in person since 2020, however, we were able to offer a hybrid council for those unable to travel. It was good to see our members once again.”
Girl Guides South Africa works closely with the World Association of Girl Guides & Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) in some activities including “Free Being Me” which is a programme.
empowering young people through improved body confidence and self-esteem.
At the annual meeting, a collection was given to neighbours, Khula Lets Grow Together.
“This is a community youth development organisation that brings everyone together in helping and supporting teenagers in all spheres of their life.”
