Blankets knitted for children

"Every child deserves warmth and comfort," says woman who helped knit and crochet blankets for children.

Staff at Holiday Travel Group knitted and crocheted 23 blankets to go to Miracle Mission Children’s Home for Mandela Day.

The non-profit organisation in Kensington B is a small residential care facility for children in distress. This includes children who have been abandoned, have been abused and neglected and children who have been infected with HIV.

Maggie Mahanke said she did this to give back and contribute in a small way to society, while Mamagae Mabale said she wanted to give back to children and learn a new skill.

“Every child deserves warmth and comfort,” said Nathania Lambert. Her colleague Faiqah Hassam said, “Happiness doesn’t cost money, it just takes a bit of effort and time make someone feel special.”
