Spark Schools urge the community to support donation drive

Nkazimulo Zitha said that education is vital to uplifting communities from poverty and at Spark Schools they believe that their 100 Boxes initiative will go some way in making a positive change.

On July 18, South Africans celebrate former President Nelson Mandela’s birthday by dedicating 67 minutes to helping those in need.

Spark Schools are taking the annual donation drive a step further to encourage community members to actively participate in helping them fill up 100 boxes.

A powerful donation drive, aimed to empower the community and foster a giving culture. This year (2023) from July 18 to August 18, learners will be spreading kindness and generosity throughout their community by filling 100 boxes with basic food, clothing, and educational or sanitary items for community members in need.

Some of the items that will be in the boxes to be donated

Nkazimulo Zitha, head of school achievement said, “One of our core values is ‘service’ and we encourage our scholars to be active citizens in their classrooms, communities and country. They dedicate time and effort to serving those in need and approach challenges with a team mindset.”

He added that they invite businesses, organisations and individuals from their school communities to help them achieve this goal.

Donation boxes will be placed at every school and each school will select their charity of choice as well as the donation type to suit it.
