14 injured after taxi overturns in North Riding

The patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

ER24 and Provincial Services attended an accident at the New Market and Witkoppen roads intersection, North Riding on July 26 at about 07.30.

They arrived on the scene to find a taxi on its side in the middle of the road and several passengers were sitting on the pavement.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24’s communications officer, medics assessed 14 patients and found that one adult had serious injuries while 13 others had minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, there were no fatalities.

“The patients were treated and the seriously injured patient was given pain-relief medication before being transported to nearby hospitals for further care,” said Meiring.
“The exact details surrounding the incident are unknown but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
