Power outages continue in Randburg
Randburg goes another day without power, leaving residents with nothing but promises that operators have been notified.
City Power has shared a recent update on the power issues that continues to haunt Randburg.
Issac Mangena the entity spokesperson explained that the power system is constrained, and they urge customers to reduce their electricity consumption to prevent overloading the system.

He also confirmed that Randburg Service Delivery Centre (SDC) is sitting with 1 787 open calls, 797 of those calls have been logged in the last 24 hours.
Current outage:
- Northriding Substation, Taurus Distributor (Randpark Ridge, Sundowner, and surrounding areas): The power supply tripped shortly after it was restored. Operators have been notified and will attend to the outage.
- Northriding Substation, 475 Boundary rd distributor (Northriding AH, Kyasands, and surrounding area): The power supply is partially restored and the day shift team will continue working on restoring the remaining customers.
- Houtkoppen Substation, RMU 639 Waterford distributor (Cedar Creek Estate, Cedar Lakes, Cedar Acres Estate, Mont Tremblant, and surrounding areas): A team will be appointed to work on repairs following a power outage caused by blown termination.

- Houtkoppen Substation, Bellair Distributor (parts of Northriding): The testing team has been requested to locate the fault following a power outage that was partially restored due to an existing fault on the circuit.
- Beyers Substation, Gayfield Substation (Randpark Ridge, Boskruin, and surrounding): Repairs will resume this morning following a power outage caused by a cable fault.
- Olivenhout 16 Switching Station Incomer No.1 (Sonneglans, Northwold, Northriding): The testing team has been requested to locate the fault following a power outage that was partially restored due to an existing fault on the circuit
- Star Point Switching Station, Ring Main Unit 2 Distributor (Hyperion Street, and surroundings): The team will be sourcing material to replace a faulty switch following a power outage caused by a faulty switch.
“We are aware of power interruptions affecting customers in Strydom Park, Ferndale, Bromhof, Boskruin, Sonneglans parts of Northriding, Kyasands, Bloubosrand, and surrounding areas. Operators have been notified and will attend to the outages. Further details will be confirmed in later updates.”
Mangena advises residents to unplug all appliances during an outage to prevent an inrush current when the power supply is restored. This minimises the risk of network disruptions and ensures a continuous electricity supply.
