From May 12 to 17, the school hosted a sports festival featuring energetic football and netball matches against neighbouring primary and high schools. The event was filled with fierce competition, laughter and team spirit, as learners displayed athletic talent and true sportsmanship. A Maridian Grade 12 learner, Tshegofatso Matjeakgang, said, “The sports festival was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. It shows that we are not only strong academically, but in sport as well.”
The formal highlight was the anniversary ceremony hosted by the executive head, Maud Langa, on May 14. Special guests included Fergus Sampson, business executive of Meridian and academies, and renowned soccer coach Pitso Mosimane and his Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools team.
Throughout the day, learners dazzled guests with performances in ballet, choir, poetry and dance. Classrooms and corridors came alive with exhibitions and installations displaying the creativity and academic achievements of the past decade.

“Together we have grown stronger, wiser and more united, and we would like to thank the parents for trusting us with your children, it is an honour we never take for granted,” said Langa.
Learners and alumni shared heartfelt reflections on the impact the school has had on their lives. Grade 9 learner Siphesihle Thwala said, “One of the most meaningful parts of my journey here has been playing netball for the school. Meridian Cosmo City is not just a name, but a feeling, and family.”
Alumni Noxolo Linda and Lindelwa Dube echoed this sentiment, crediting the school’s values of discipline and leadership for shaping their personal growth.
Looking to the future, the school introduced its new legacy programme aimed at providing scholarships for top-performing Grade 7 learners in academics and sport. This initiative is part of the school’s commitment to uplift and empower the Cosmo City community through access to quality independent education.
As the curtain closed on a week of memories and milestones, one thing was clear: Meridian Cosmo City’s legacy is only just beginning.
