Hoërskool Randburg celebrates 60 years in style

Parents, learners, staff and community came together to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Hoërskool Randburg.

Hoërskool Randburg proudly celebrated 60 years of excellence with a weekend filled with celebrations, community, and school spirit.

The festivities began on Friday evening with a wine tasting and dining event, where parents, staff, and alumni came together to reconnect and share memories. Laughter and storytelling filled the air as generations came together under one roof.

On Saturday, the celebrations continued with a vibrant sports festival. Hoërskool Randburg hosted Randpark High School in a series of exciting matches, showcasing talent, teamwork, and determination.

Attendees were treated to thrilling games of hockey, rugby, and netball, with each game reflecting the passion and pride of both schools. Players gave their all in the spirit of friendly competition.

Principal Pieter Booysen said that it was the first time playing against Randpark High School, and they appreciated their participation very much.

“It was a very balanced meeting with some wins and some losses, and ultimately, I think it’s something that we should pursue in the future as well.”

He added that it’s a humbling experience to know that they are part of something that’s been existing for 60 years, and it poses a challenge for the next 60 years.

“In 60 years, a lot of things have been built up, and a lot of things have been done. We need to carry on with that momentum, and we can never let go or slow down. This is a continuous work of art.”

As the sun began to set, the school transitioned into a lively music festival. The school’s 60th anniversary was truly a celebration to remember.
