Police nab 2 cell phone robbery suspects at Cresta Shopping Centre

A joint operation between Beagle Watch and JMPD ended in two arrests at Cresta Shopping Centre after a pedestrian was robbed at gunpoint.

Two suspects were arrested at Cresta Shopping Centre after a joint operation between the Beagle Watch specialised crime unit and the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD).

During the operation they recovered a vehicle linked to an armed robbery. The incident began when JMPD alerted Beagle Watch that a vehicle connected to a robbery had been spotted in the area. Three suspects had allegedly accosted a pedestrian at gunpoint and made off with their belongings, including a mobile phone.

Officers tracked the vehicle to Cresta Shopping Centre and spotted two of the suspects entering the mall. A search was conducted inside, and the pair were found at a mobile phone shop where they were reportedly attempting to have the stolen device unlocked.

Both suspects were apprehended on the spot. The vehicle was also seized, and the two men were taken to Johannesburg Central SAPS for further processing.

The third suspect linked to the robbery remains at large at the time of the arrests.
