I have now witnessed for years the steady decline of Ferndale and Randburg.
With sadness I remember a time when Randburg was not part of the metropolitan area and how efficient it was. Sure, there were problems because it was a fast-developing area at the time.
Since we have become part of the greater Johannesburg metropolitan area, things seem to have gone from bad to worse. I cannot remember when last all the robots where working. Of late the robots on Malibongwe Drive are out at different times and others don’t seem to work ever.
I’m a member of the Ward committee and feel pity for the Ward councillors who have to deal with City Council departments that seem to have no clue how or ambition to make things function in the area.
Oxford Avenue, Cork Avenue, Rocky Street, Dover Street and Long Street don’t have working streetlights. This is unacceptable as crime is high. We are told it is because of the storms and rain that the lights aren’t working.
I have reported a street light, which burns day and night in Cork Avenue for a month, but it has not been fixed.
I don’t know how this useless administration can expect to have any right to stay in power.
