Spider war

Angelique from Malanshof writes:

With reference to your column about the spider, I understand your intention was to convey humour. I am, however, saddened by your take on a completely harmless rain spider. They do nothing bar eating insects, that are even more annoying than the spiders are terrifying. Spiders, in general, serve a vital role in maintaining an ecosystem. Even though we humans arrogantly feel removed from and superior to the natural world, we are not.

As an educated person, one with a useful platform to use for spreading awareness and collaboration between man and nature, I must appeal to you to take care with your messages. Spiders can safely be caught and released into gardens if a person is fearful. I do this often.
