Randburg Harriers wishes residents, runners, and volunteers a good festive season

Randburg Harriers wishes its members, volunteers, and the community at large, a happy rest over the days of Christmas.

Randburg Harriers public relations officer and media liaison Buwi Moeketsi takes a step back and reflects on the year 2024 before it ends.

She said that the year was a good one for the club, with the highlights being the success of their two races, the Valentine’s 10km Night Race and The Randburg Harriers Challenge, which is a 21km race and part of the Vitality series.

They received lots of support from the running community, many of whom also stayed behind for the post-race festivities.

“I’d like to send a heartfelt thank you to every person who volunteered their time and energy to make our club a success, some of whom weren’t even members. From the committee members to the volunteers at the weekend club runs, club events, gazebo hosts at races, and every single person who always steps up and helps at our races, thank you.”

She further stated that no running club is perfect and, when different individuals come together, there’s bound to be challenges. However, if everyone has good intentions that is all that should matter.

“We don’t dwell on challenges. We overcome them, grow from them, and take notes on what we can do to make things better. For Randburg Harriers, my Christmas wish is for our members to take this time to reflect on the year that was, their achievements, their losses, and the goals they had.”

She added that this is the time of year when things slow down a bit, and time with family and friends becomes the much-needed fuel to prepare for a new year of running.

“We put our bodies through a lot during the peak training season. I hope the runners take advantage of having more time to rest and indulge in all the festive season feasts. To our community, especially the ones who have been kind enough to allow us to host club runs and races in their areas, thank you for accepting us. We appreciate your patience, with the extra traffic we might cause, especially on race days. From the Randburg Harriers family to yours, we wish you a safe and happy festive season.”
