‘Shatter the desktop cliché’
NORTH RIDING – MSI gives insight into the gaming device of the future.
Desktop computers have dominated the gaming world ever since the rise of computer gaming but, alas, the MSI Gaming Series notebook division says no more.
Miles Regenass, marketing specialist for MSI, shared this prospect with media at a press conference during the rAge Expo on 7 October.
Regenass explained in the last few years notebook computers have been able to match desktop computers in every respect, except for graphics, when it comes to gaming. “We have always struggled with graphics. We have been on par with performance, power and cooling. We believe in creating a balance for optimal performance.”
However, he said with the release of MSI’s 10 series and their partnership with Nvidia, a graphics processing unit designer, notebooks, for the first time in history, have just as good, if not better graphics than desktops. This is why MSI has adopted its ‘shatter desktop performance cliché’ motto, as their aim is to challenge the cliché of desktop computers being the best for gaming.
At the moment, desktop computers are still the cheaper option but in the long term, Regenass said he can see notebooks as the future for gamers as it will give individuals increased mobility for tournaments and LANs, local area network gaming.
