Stray cat caught with snare around its waist doing well after vet care

The cat was found with a snare around its waist and a piece of plastic around its tongue.

No More Tears Animal Sanctuary saved a stray cat that had been caught in a snare with a piece of plastic around its tongue.

Stephan Hendricks, one of the directors at No More Tears said they received a call about a cat caught in a snare, which was around its waist. The cat was found on October 19 in Hillside.

“Thank heavens this poor cat was able to free himself and got away, and went to the only safe haven he knew, a kind-hearted lady that feeds some feral cats in the area,” said Stephan.

After a few attempts they were finally able to catch it and it was taken to the vet where they discovered he also had a piece of plastic stuck on his tongue. According to the vet, it was rescued just in time.

“Luckily the snare didn’t penetrate the skin,” stated Clarisse Kruger, a volunteer at the sanctuary.

“Since it is now sterilised, we hope it won’t wander as much and rather stay at the haven where it is being fed.

“We are still short on his vet bill, and any donations towards his bill will be hugely appreciated,” said Stephan.
