A 45-year-old man and his wife together with their daughter were victims of a house robbery when two suspects broke into their home, woke them up and robbed their house in Ten Acres.
According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the incident occurred on 8 February in Ten Acres at approximately 3am.
“It is understood that prior to the tragedy, the man heard dogs barking and decided to investigate.
“He walked to his bedroom window to check what was going on.
The next moment, a firearm was held against his neck by the suspects, who had managed to get into the house unseen.
It is believed that the suspects gained entrance into the house by breaking a window in one of the rooms in the house and forcing open the burglar proofing.
“What I can reveal at this stage is that after producing firearms, the suspects ordered the man to lie down on the floor and then woke up his wife.
“They instructed her to fetch their daughter from another bedroom and they were then also ordered to lie down on the floor,” says Ernst.
She adds that the suspects ransacked the house and took cellphones, a computer and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing from the scene.
Fortunately no-one was injured during the robbery.
The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Thabiso Duiker, is investigating the case and urges anyone who might have any information with regards to the incident to contact him on 011 278 8100.
