One killed, five injured in head-on collision

Two vehicle collision on R501 in Carletonville turns tragic.

A man in his late 20s has been killed and five others injured when two vehicles collided head-on on the R501 12km outside of Carletonville on Saturday.

According to ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring “Two vehicles were found on the side of the road in a large ditch. Both vehicles showed considerable damage.

“On assessment, paramedics discovered that the driver of one of the vehicles had been ejected when the two vehicles collided. Unfortunately the man had already succumb to his severe injuries. The passenger lay in the vehicle and was found to have sustained moderate injuries.

“The occupants of the second vehicle were found sitting around the car. Assessments showed that the patients sustained only minor injuries.

“Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

“The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.”
