Family dispute leads to fatal stabbing

A family dispute turned messy when a man was allegedly stabbed and killed by someone close to him.

A 33-year-old man was stabbed and killed following an alleged family dispute just weeks before Christmas police said.

According to Randfontein police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, ‘It has been alleged that an argument between two family members became heated and resulted in physical violence. The victim was stabbed with a sharp instrument in his upper body.

‘The family members who witnessed the stabbing were able to identify the suspect but were severely traumatized. Randfontein Police officers that tended to the matter arrested a 41-year-old suspect and found the sharp instrument used for the stabbing in the suspect’s possession.’

The suspect has since appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates Court. It is believed he will apply for bail.
