Man stung by swarm of bees

'Patient in serious condition' — ER24.

A 54-year-old-man is in a serious condition after he was stung multiple times by a swarm of bees at a nature reserve in Bloemfontein on Thursday.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, “Paramedics were called to assist the man who had been working at the reserve.

“He was apparently walking to his vehicle when the swarm gathered around him and began to sting him. The man began to wave his arms while fleeing to a safe place.

“ER24 paramedics met the man on the man road after he was loaded into a vehicle by his colleges.

“On assessment, paramedics discovered that the patient was in a serious condition after he had sustained roughly 15 stings to his arms, neck and chest.

“Paramedics treated the patient and provided him with advanced life support before transporting him to Mediclinic Bloemfontein for urgent treatment.”
